LB clinch 3rd with win over Palacios

PALACIOS – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas left no doubt in a 44-30 victory over Palacios to clinch third place in District 25-AAA Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Alaina Halata poured in 21 points and was backed by Addison Matula’s 13 to lead the win.

The LB (14-16, 9-5) set the tone for the game when they shutout the Sharkettes 13-0 in the first quarter with Halata scoring 8 points.

However, the Sharkettes went on a 12-4 run in the second period and the LB lead was 17- 12 at the intermission.

Hallettsville regrouped by outscoring Palacios 13-7 in the third quarter behind 9 points by Halata and 5 by Matula to up the count to 33-19 going into the fourth.

The teams played on even terms in the finals stanza.

The Lady Brahmas played Poth in the bidistrict round Tuesday at Victoria St. Joseph.
