LB extend win streak to 8 games

Hallettsville extended its win streak to eight in a row with a 4-0 District 25- AAA victory over Edna here Friday night.

Pitcher Grace Halata had a lot to do with the win and threw a complete game four-hitter and produced a 2 for 2 performance at the plate with two RBI singles. She walked three, hit a batter and recorded eight strikeouts.

The shutout was preserved when left fielder Alaina Halata hosed Layla Hernandez at the plate trying to score from second base.

Hanna Zachary led off the first inning with a double. Grace Halata hit a 2-1 pitch to left center to plate Zachary.

Caitlynn Halata led off the third inning with a one-out double to right center and scored on Grace Halata’s base hit.

The LB (10-2, 2-1) added two insurance runs in the fifth on two errors and a double by Macey Pustka.

Hallettsville unleashed a 15-hit attack in the victory over Rice Consolidated in Altair Tuesday, March 4.

Addison Matula hit her fourth home run of the season and Caitlynn Halata her second. Halata drove in seven runs and also doubled.

The LB led 10-0 before scoring eight runs in the fourth inning to end the game.
