LB playoff Hopes put on hold
After knocking off stateranked Tidehaven three days before, the HallettsvilleLadyBrahmascould not stand success in losing to Vanderbilt Industrial, 46-30, in a District 25-AAA game here Friday
A win over the Cobras would have clinched a playoff berth. Industrial beat theLBforthesecondtime this year and handed them their first district home loss.
Hallettsville went on the road Tuesday to play Palacios.
Hallettsville led 8-6 at the first break and 15-10 midway though the second quarter before the roof caved it.
Industrial scored 23 unanswered points on a run that carries into the third quarter.TheLBdidn’tscore until the 4:18 mark of the third period and by that time the Cobras built up a 33-15 lead from which Hallettsville could never recover.
Hallettsville (13-16, 8-5) could not contain the Cobras’ Deziree Evans who poured in 26 points with 10 of 18 shooting.
The Cobras led 39-21 lead going into the final eight minutes.
The LB could not get out of their own way with 8 turnovers in the third stanza.
Hallettsville shot a paltry 26.6% from the field to Industrial’s 41.0%.
Industrial did not take a shot from behind the arc and only one in the previous meeting.
No LB scored in double figures. Destiny Garza scored 9 points and Addison Matula 8.

A 16-3 fourth quarter run was key in the victory over the #8 ranked Tigerettes here Tuesday, Jan. 30.
The Tigerettes had a 35-32 lead prior to Alaina Halata scoring 7 points and Hallettsville made 8 clutch free throws for the final margin of victory.
Tidehaven led 10-9 at the first break and 24-22 lead at the half.
Mary Johnson scored a game-high 22 points in defeat.
Addison Matula led Hallettsville with 16 points and Halata finished with 14.
Hallettsville made 9 of 14 free throws and the Tigerettes only 3 of 13.
