LB set school record for wins in sweep of Tigerettes

    COLUMBUS – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas swept El Maton Tidehaven 12-2 and 15-1 Thursday and Friday in the regional quarterfinals.

    The LB set a school record for wins with 36, eclipsing the old record of 35 set in 2022.

    Hallettsville, who has only two losses, slapped out 29 hits with 10 for going for extra bases.

    GAME ONE LB 12, TIDEHAVEN 2 (6 INNINGS)

    The LB set the tone early with a five-run first inning in the 12-2 victory Thursday night.

    Madison Mikes (12- 0) threw the first four frames and surrendered two runs(one earned), five hits, walked one and fanned six.

    Grace Halata pitched the final two frames and allowed a hit, two walks and struck out one.

    Hanna Zachary and Rebecca Satsky led off with base hits and both scored on a double by Macie Jansky, who later scored on a wild pitch. Kaylie Olivarez drew a walk and was driven home with a single by Ella Amsden. Amsden scored on a sac fly by Carson Jansky for the final run.

    After a Tidehaven run, the LB increased the lead to 7-1 with two markers in the third inning.

    With two outs, Carson Jansky was safe on an error and scored on a base hit by Halata.

    A three-run fourth inning extended the lead to 12-1.

    Two runs scored on an error and one on an infield out by Kaylie Olivarez.

    Macie Jansky led off the sixth inning with her 15th home run of the season. Carson Jansky drove in the final run to end the game.

    LB 13, TIDEHAVEN 1 (5 INNINGS)

    Kaylie Olivarez homered and tossed a onehitter in Friday’s 13-1, fiveinning victory.

    Olivarez (13-1) surrendered two hits, walked four while striking out one.

    The LB had a 17-hit attack. Olivarez was fourfor-four with four RBI and Macey Pustka and Hanna Zachary were both threefor-four. Carson Jansky had the other multi-hit game with a double and triple.

    Hallettsville scored two runs in the second inning on an error and sacrifice fly by Madison Mikes.

    Carson Jansky doubled to begin the third inning before scoring on Olivarez’s two run homer.

    Five runs in the fifth inning ended the game.
