LBs take over sole possession of first
With the District 28- AAA lead on the line, Emily Migl shined brighter than the Saturday afternoon sun in an 11-0, fiveinning win over Columbus at The Softball Field.
Migl (8-2) was razor sharp. The senior righthander allowed no hits, struck out eight and faced one batter over the minimum. Migl retired the first seven batters she faced prior to a miscue and set down the final eight in order.
The win was the 11th in a row for the Lady Brahmas, who advanced to 18-3 and 7-0 in the game which ended the first round of district play. Columbus dropped to 11-8 and 6-1.
The Lady Brahmas had nine hits with Kaylie Olivarez going 3-for-3 and Courtney Woytek 3-for-4. Carson Jansky collected four runs batted in with a two-run single, a sacrifice fly and reaching on an error.
Woytek got the Hallettsville scoring started with a lead-off base hit and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Katelyn Pustejovsky. Migl drew a free pass and Woytek scored on an Olivarez single. Migl dented the plate when Carson Jansky was safe on an error.
Five runs scored in the second on five hits and an error. Hanna Zachary and Carson Jansky drove in two runs apiece with singles.
Hallettsville kept the pressure on with four in the third. Emma Davenport walked and scored on Woytek’s single.
The loss was the first in district for Columbus who is 15-9 overall.
