Major League Boys eliminated
SWEENY –A 9-2 loss to Sweeny eliminated the Hallettsville Major League All-Stars from the Section 4 Tournament Wednesday, July 3.
Hallettsville collected just four hits and made three errors.
Hallettsville scored its runs in the second inning.
Alex Grahmann walked to lead off the inning and scored when Owen Jansky’s base hit was mishandled in the outfield. A single by Konnor Chance scored Jansky.
Chance had two of the four hits including a double and Ty Rother singled.
Both teams stranded six baserunners.
H’ville 15, Beeville 2
Hallettsville put up a lot of crooked numbers in eliminating Beeville, 15-12, Tuesday, July 2.
The game was called after four innings because of the run rule.
The highlight of the game was a grand slam home run by Luke Meinkowsky in the fourth inning, who also doubled and drove in six runs.
Hallettsville scored seven runs in the first inning.
Alex Grahmann was hit by a pitch to start the game and Owen Jansky walked on a 3-2 pitch. Konnor Chance singled in a run and Myles Kalmus and Meinkowsky ensued with back-to-back doubles to score three runs. Tanner Pustka walked before scoring on a wild pitch. Scott Strode knocked in the final run with a single.
Meinkowsky started on the mound and Myles Kalmus, Alex Grahmann and Rother threw in relief.
The locals had seven hits. Beeville committed five errors and three pitchers walked four batters land hit one.
Lamar 9, H’ville 1
Seven errors was the downfall of Hallettsville in the loss to Lamar America in the first round Monday, July 1.
Lamar had only four hits and received five walks.
Hallettsville avoided a shutout with a run in the sixth. Myles Kalmus hit a lead-off double and later scored on an error, the only miscue for Lamar.
Owen Jansky doubled and Alex Grahmann singled to account for the other Hallettsville hits.
