Minor boys win a couple of nail-biters
The Hallettsville Minor League boys completed a sweep over Ne Braunfels Red in a couple of nail-biters 13-11 and 14-13.
Hallettsville won 14-13 Sunday night in an eight inning game in La Vernia to cap the series in marathon Sunday night.
NB led 13-12 prior to Hallettsville scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning for a walkoff win.Hallettsville collected 10 hits and had 11 batters draw bases-on-balls.
Colt Wagner went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs and two RBI; Karter Podhajsky had two hits with two runs batted in; Alex Grahmann doubled with two RBI; Cullen Machicek 1-for-2; Gage Grahmann Seth Seydler and and Cullen Hanslik had base hits. H’ville 13, NB 11
Hallettsville rallied from a 10-7 deficit to score six runs in the sixth inning in the game played in Lockhart.
The locals batted around in the sixth inning with Karter Podhajsky providing a big blow with a two-run double.
Brayden Utley had three of Hallettsville’s 12 hits and drove in four runs. Zach Perez was 2-for3. Cullen Machicek drove in two runs with a double; Podhajsky was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in; Gage Grahmann had two hits and a RBI; Jake Davenport singled and drove in a run
Perez was the starting pitcher and was followed to the mound by Colt Wagner and Brentley Steffek. Wagner was the winning pitcher and Steffek earned the save.
