Moulton girls basketball: Kittens get three wins at Schulenburg Tournament
The Kittens went 3-3 in the Schulenburg Tournament last weekend with Estefania Colchado making the All-Tournament Team. Moulton lost to Hallettsville Sacred on Nov. 29
Moulton 38, Industrial 31
Mary-Claire O’Leary scored a dozen points and Estefania Colchado had nine points as the Kittens opened the tournament with a 38-31 win over Industrial on Thursday.
Moulton took a 13-9 lead after one quarter and led 25-18 at halftime. The Kittens went on a 8-7 run in the third frame and Industrial managed to score six of 11 points in the fourth.

Colchado scored 12 points and O-Leary had 11 points as Moulton got past Bellville 34-29 in their second game on Thursday.
The Kittens led 9-4 after one quarter and were up 19-14 at halftime after each team scored 10 points in the second. Moulton went on a 10-5 run in the third and the Lady Brahmas did likewise in the fourth.

Colchado and O’Leary led the Kittens to a 37-29 win over Lexington on Friday with 13 and 11 points, respectively. The Kittens led 10-4 after the first quarter and were up 23-12 at halftime.
Lexington went on a 7-4 run in the third box and the teams split 20 points in the fourth period.

The Sealy Lady Tigers defeated Moulton 36-25 later on Friday for the Kittens’ first loss of the tournament. The game was 8-8 after one quarter and the Lady Tigers went on a 12-4 run in the second frame.
The Kittens closed the gap with an 11-6 scoring advantage in the third box; Sealy went on a 10-2 run in the fourth to close out the game. Colchado led Moulton with eight points.

Franklin’s Hawkins scored 34 points and hit seven triples to down the Kittens 59-22 on Saturday. Franklin led 17-4 after one quarter and 32-8 at halftime. Both teams scored 12 points in the third and Franklin scored 15 of 17 points in the fourth. Colchado led Moulton with eight points.

Araceli Vasquez and Torin Langston each scored nine points but the Kittens came up short in their last game of the tournament, 45-36, against East Bernard.
The Lady Brahmas led 14-4 after one quarter and Moulton went on a 14-7 second-quarer run to get within 21-18 at halftime.
East Bernard scored 14 of 23 points in the third stanza and slightly outscored Moulton 10-9 in the fourth quarter.
