Moulton girls basketball: Kittens win five during last week’s action

The Kittens had a great week last week with a win over Falls City and going perfect in the Kittens Klassic.
Moulton 42, Falls City 23
Trailing 18-17 at halftime at home to Falls City, the Kittens went on a 25-5 run in the second half for a 42-23 win.
The Beaverettes outscored Moulton 9-8 in the opening period and the teams each banked in nine points in the second frame.
The Kittens went on a 9-2 run in the third box and scored 16 of 19 points in the fourth quarter.
Ava Olivarez led all scorers with 16 points and made two triples while Audrey Swinford hit three treys and booked 13 points.
L. Mocyzgemba led Falls City with six points.

Kittens Klassic Tournament
The Kittens won all four games at the home tournament to take the winning spot. Vasquez was named MVP with Addison Simper, Swinford and Taylor Self making the All-Tournament team.
Moulton 55, New Braunfels Long Creek 28
The Kittens outscored the Lady Dragons by 14, 16-2, in the first quarter and went on to win 55-28 on Thursday in their first tournament game. Moulton was ahead 26-11 at halftime, scored 15 of 24 points in the third quarter and went on a 15-8 run in the fourth period.
Swinford led Moulton with 12 points and Self scored 10 points. Lelah Jones led New Braunfels Long Creek with 10 points.

Vasquez scored 16 points and dropped in two triples, and Swinford knocked in 15 points and one trey as Moulton beat Yoakum 52-32 on Friday in their first tournament game of the day.
Moulton led 18-8 after one quarter and led 23-18 at halftime. 
The Kittens went on a 18-5 in the third period and scored 11 of 20 points in the fourth stanza. Lilly Fojt led Yoakum with eight points.

The Kittens defeated Woodville (Australia) 51-41 in their second of two games for the day. Vasquez scored 14 points with four treys; r Self scored 11 points with a triple; Swinford scored eight points; Olivarez finished with five points and a triple; Simper booked five points; Valeria Pindeo had four points, Madison Rothbauer had three points and Karsyn Blahuta chipped in one point.
Moulton 56, Sacred Heart 19
The Kittens closed out the tournament with a 56-19 win over Sacred Heart Saturday. The Kittens led 14-4 in the first frame and led 27-6 at halftime.
Moulton went on a 17-1 third-quarter run and the teams shared 24 points in the last eight minutes.
Olivarez led Moulton with 16 points and Taylor Self scored double digits with 11 points.
Allie Clark’s six points led Sacred Heart.
