Moulton softball: Kittens fall in district games to Weimar JV, Flatonia

The Kittens fell in games to Weimar JV and Flatonia last week.
Weimar JV 24, Moulton 12
After an early lead against the Weimar junior varsity Aprill in Weimar, Moulton fell behind and could not  completely catch up, losing 24-12.
The Kittens led 2-1 after one inning and Weimar scored eight in the second inning and outscored Moulton 6-4 in the third frame to lead 15-6.
The Kittens got within 15-11 in the top pf the fourth before the Lady Wildcats scored nine runs in the bottom of the inning and the Kittens scored one run in the top of the fifth.
The Kittens had plenty of hits with Addison Simper going 4-for-4, four runs; Araceli Vasque, Hope Kirkland and Karsyn Blahuta all got three hit each.
Simper pitched the whole game and Mary-Claire O’Leary had three putouts on defense.

Flatonia 16, Moulton 1
The Kittens only managed a single hit in a 16-1 loss to Flatonia at home on Friday. The Bulldogs scored five runs to start the game and the Kittens brought in a run in the bottom of the first.
Flatonia scored a run in the second and scored 10 in the third inning.
Audrey Swinford had Moulton’s hit, Simper scored the run and Kirkland had an RBI.
Simper pitched 2 1/3 innings, 11 runs on seven hits and seven walks; Vasquez worked 2/3 innings with four hits, five runs and two walks. Swinford had seven putouts in the field.
