Moulton softball: Kittens lose extra-inning game to Schulenburg
The Kittens were swept in a doubleheader with Shiner junior varsity and were edged in a close one against Schulenburg in last week’s games.
Shiner JV 8, Moulton 1 (Game 1)
Addison Simper went 2-for-2 and scored one run in the opener but the Kittens could not get much else going in an 8-1 loss.
Shiner led 1-0 after the first inning and outscored the Kittens 3-0 in the third frame. Moulton scored its lone run in the fourth inning before Shiner plated four in the fifth inning.
Bethany Kram allowed seven hits, eight runs, six walks and six strikeouts.
Simper had three putouts on defense.

Shiner JV 5, Moulton 3 (Game 2)
Karsyn Blahuta got three hits and had two RBI as the Kittens were edged by Shiner 5-3 in the in the second game.
Shiner led 1-0 after one inning and outscored the Kittens 3-0 in the second and 1-0 in the third.
Moulton attempted a comeback with three runs scored in the top of the fifth.
Kram yielded the five runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts.
Katie Richter made four putouts.

With a 2-2 score going into the eighth inning, visiting Schulenburg outscored Moulton 5-4 for a 7-6 win.
Schulenburg led 2-1 after the first inning; the Kittens tied the game in the bottom of the third inning.
Abigail Siegel led the Kittens on the bats, going 3-for-4; Taylor Self got two hits, doubled, had one RBI and scored one run; Simper was 2-for-5, double, RBI; Madison Rothbauer got two hits and scored one run,
Kram pitched the whole game with eight hits, seven runs, one batter hit, one walk and six strikeouts.
Richter had eight putouts on defense.
