SH wins inaugural tourney

The Sacred Heart Indianettes edged Houston St. Pius X, 4-3, to capture the championship of the inaugural SH Booster Club Tournament here Saturday evening.

The teams were tied at 1-all prior to the Indianettes scoring three runs in the sixth inning, two coming on Ava Lackey’s home run.

The Lady Panthers scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth before falling short.

There wasn’t much traffic on the bases as both teams had just four hits. St. Pius stranded 6 and the Indianettes only two.

Haley Noska pitched all six innings and gave up four hits, struck out nine and did not allow a walk. SH committed three errors to make only one run earned. Noska threw 107 pitches, 70 for strikes.

Lackey was 2-for-2 with two runs scored while Karley Kostelnik tripled and drove in a run and Phoenix Richter singled.

The Indianettes are 13-4 on the season.

SH 15, ABC 0 (3)

SH beat hapless Austin Brentwood Christian 15-0 Thursday.

The Indianettes scored 10 runs in the first inning and went on from there.

Avery Beach and Ella Demel both had two hits in the frame with Beach hitting a double and triple and Demel driving in two runs with a single and triple.

Haley Noska gave up two hits in the first inning and three overall with three strikeouts.

Karley Kostelnik and Ava Lackey doubled Noska singled with one RBI and Rylan Dworsky, Phoenix Richter and Noska had base hits and Madeline Kurtz had base hits.

SH 5, Tidehaven 3 (3)

The Indianettes avenged a loss to Tidehaven in the Hyde Park Tournament with a 5-3 victory Friday.

SH trailed 2-0 before scoring all of its runs in the third inning on four hits and a walk. Lanie Haas led off with a double down the right field line and scored on a hit by Avery Beach. Rylan Dworsky bunted for a base hit prior to Ella Demel’s double to the alley in right centerfield to score two runs. Ava Lackey followed suit with another double to plate Demel. Lackey scored on a wild pitch for the final run.

Haley Noska gave up two runs (one earned), three hits, walked two and whiffed eight.

SH 9, Manor Tech 1 (4)

Aracely Guzman and Avery Beach combined for a one-hitter in the victory over Manor Tech Friday.

The Indianettes had seven hits with Ava Lackey hitting a homer and a double and drove in two runs. Guzman drove in two runs with a two base hit, Avery Beach tripled, and Kenzie Chance singled.

SH 9, Goliad 5 (5)

Ella Demel homered to spark a sevenrun fourth inning in the 7-5 victory over Goliad Thursday.

Avery Beach went 4.2 innings to earn the win with relief help from Demel, who put out a fire after Goliad had scored four runs in the top of the fifth inning.

Beach gave up all five runs (four earned), seven hits, walked four and struck out three. Demel got the final out via a strikeout.

Beach, Demel and Ava Lackey were all 2-for-3. Beach tripled and Phoenix Richter had a run-scoring double; Lanie Haas a single and a RBI Haley; and Rylan Dworsky singled and score two runs.
