Shiner baseball: Comanches nine give up nothing in area sweep of Freer

The Shiner Comanches blanked Freer 16-0 and 1-0 in the area-round series last week at Karnes City.
The Comanches face  district oppponent Ganado in the regional quarterfinals in a best-of-three series at Victoria Riverside Stadium. Game one will be today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. Game two will be Friday at 7 and game three, if needed, will be Saturday at 1.

Game 1
The Comanches scored 10 runs in the sixth inning to build on a 6-0 lead to take the opener 16-0 in six innings on Friday.
Shiner scored three in the third frame and three more in the fourth inning.
The entire lineup for Shiner got at least one hit as the Comanches collectively had 16 hits.
Carson Schuette led the pack by going 3-for-3, two doubles, two RBI and three runs, and Bode Werner also got three hits, going, 3-for-4 with three runs, RBI and a double; 
Landyn Pohler batted 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, one triple and one double.
Cale Shows finished 2-for-5 with a pair of runs, one RBI; Kaidan Boothe hit 2-for-4 with two runs, RBI. 
Charlie Clifford went 1-for-3 with RBI, run.
Jake Simper hit 1-for-5 with run and RBI.
Caleb Lehnert was 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI with Boe Boehm going 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Pohler pitched a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts.

Game 2
Simper’s run in the seventh inning was the only score as the Comanches closed out the series with a pitcher’s duel 1-0 on Saturday.
Schuette allowed just one hit with two walks and six strikeouts.
At the plate, Shiner got five hits led by Boehm who was 2-for-3; Simper was 1-for-2 with one run; Boothe and Lehnert each hit 1-for-3.
