Shiner baseball: Comanches sweep Trojans

    The Comanches opened the playoffs by rolling Charlotte 13-0, 11-1 in a sweep Friday at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.
    Shiner 13, Charlotte 0 (Game 1)
    Drew Wenske and Ryan Peterson each scored four runs to get Shiner to a 12-0 win in five innings in the first game. Wenske got two hits, two RBI, a double; Peterson got two hits; Keenan Hailey got two hits, a run, an RBI and Carson Schuette was 2-for-4, 1 RBI.
    Peterson picked up the win with a one-hitter, a walk and 10 strikeouts in four innings; Landyn Pohler closed with one inning, two strikeouts.
    Shiner led 2-0 after the first frame, scored three runs in the second and went up 10-0 after four innings before outscoring Charlotte 3-0 in the fifth frame.

    Cale Shows went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Peterson picked up two hits, a double and triple, three RB and two runs while Wenske got two hits, both doubles, two runs and an RBI as Shiner downed Charotte 11-1 in the second game.
    Wenske allowed a single run on one hit with a walk and 13 batters fanned. Hailey had two putouts in the field.
    Shiner ended a scoreless game with five runs in the third inning and outscored Charlotte 6-1 in the fifth frame.
