Shiner baseball: Shiner beats Flatonia for undefeated district season

Shiner edged out the Flatonia Bulldogs 2-1 on April 25 to earn its third straight undefeated district championship.
Shiner plated the game-winning run in the seventh with a 1-1 score. Cale Shows and Caleb Lehnert singled; Ryan Peterson walked walked to load the bases. Wenske got on first as Flatonia put Shows out at home to prevent the run. With bases still, loaded, Keenan Hailey was hit by the pitch to score Lenhert for the deciding run.
In the top of the first, Wenske was walked and later scored to put Shiner ahead 1-0; Keyshaun Green scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third to draw the score level.
Wenske led Shiner with two hits at the plate; Peterson started on the mound, went five squares with one run on one hit, five walks and dozen strikeouts. Carson Schuette relieved him in the fifth frame, ceded one hitm had two walks and four strikeouts to pick up the win.In the field, Hailey had two putouts.
