Shiner cross country, track: Moreno gets plenty of reps in first year of XC, track at McMurry
Shiner class of 2022 and McMurry University cross country and track athlete Jocelyn Moreno ran a variety of distances, from the 1,500 meters to 10K and a lot in between during her freshman year (2022-2023).
2022 Cross Country
She ran in five meets during her freshman year of cross country.
On Sept. 2, Moreno ran the 4,000-meter race at the Big Country XC Festival in Abilene, getting No. 52 with a time of 17 minutes, 20.1 seconds.
She did the 6K Sept. 17 at the Southwestern Showdown in Georgetown, placing No. 24 in 26:05.8.
In the UIW Cross Country Invitational in San Antonio on Oct. 1, Moreno ran in the 6K and placed No. 59 in 25:36.5
In the Lewis &Clark Invitational on Oct. 15, Moreno placed No. 171 in the 6K with a time of 26:28.2.
At the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Championships on Oct. 29 in Marshall, Moreno was No .20 in the 3.73 miles with a time o 25:41.4.
2023 Indoor Track
In the Washburn Rust Buster indoor meet in Washburn, Kan. on Jan. 21, Moreno placed No. 25 in the mile with 6:03.99 and was No. 29 in the 3K in 12:19.29.
2023 Outdoor Track
Moreno placed No. 16 in the 5K at the 2023 Trinity Invitational March 3-4 with a time of 20:49.57.
At the Wes Kittley Invitational March 17-18 in, Moreno ran the 10K and placed No. 11 in 43:47.75.
She ran the 1500 at the 2023 War Hawk Classic April 14-15, finishing in 5:39.93 for No. 16.
At the ASC championships May 4-6, Moreno placed sixth in the 10K with a time of 47:31.03.
