Shiner edges Lady Brahmas, 36-35

SHINER – The Hallettsville Lady Brahmas had a chance to beat Shiner, but missed a shot at the buzzer in dropping a 36-35 decision to the Lady Comanches Monday, Nov. 25.

Two free throws by Shiner’s Morgan Lenehan was the difference and gave the Lady Comanches a 36-33 lead. LB Kasey Harper scored on the other end to trim the lead to 36-35. The LB had one more chance, but could not convert.

Hallettsville could not get out of its own way in the first half with 18 turnovers, and despite its ineptness, trailed by just one point at the half.

Callie Sevcik had a huge first quarter with 7 points and Shiner led at the first break, 15-10.

Shiner stretched its lead to 22-14 prior to the LB going on a 9-2 run with a three by Destiny Garza and two buckets by Harper to whittle the Lady Comanche lead to 24-23 at the half.

Shiner still led by one point, 29-28, heading into crunch time.

Harper had a gamehigh 14 points for the LB and Sevcik and Lenehan had 12 apiece for Shiner.
