Shiner football: Shiner Comanches face Kaegan Ash, Wildcats in state semifinals game

The Shiner Comanches continue their march to the state title game.
Shiner will face Mount Enterprise tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Randle-Reed Stadium in New Caney in the north Houston area.
The Comanches took care of Junction 22-6 last Friday while Mount Enterprise survived a shootout against Bremond 64-58.
Shiner will be facing one of its toughest tests on the season.
“Get this far in the playoffs and you have very tough teams. It will be a challenge but that is what we expect,” Shiner head coach Daniel Boedeker said.
Mount Enterprise is a juggernaut on the scoreboard as they have scored 61.7 points a game and have allowed 34.5 points a game on defense.
The Wildcats are led on offense by Texas Tech commit and running back Kaegan Ash.
Ash has rushed for 4,322 yards on the season, averages 16.1 yards per carry, 308.7 yards a game, has 12 games with 100 yards or more and has scored 67 rushing touchdowns for an average of 4.78 a game.
“He is as advertised. He is a physical runner and has good speed,” Boedeker said. “Our defense has to have multiple people get to him, not allow him gaps and force him to run sideways.”
He is supported by Joel Otwell (51-610, 7 touchdowns) and Aadin Alsup (41-515, 12 touchdowns)
Mount Enterprise averages 438 rushing yards and passes for 87.7 yards a game, averaging 525 yards a game on offense.
On the defensive side, linebacker Joshua Bennett had 155 total tackles, 40 solo tackles and 115 assists; Ash had 102 tackles,20 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks.
“Ash and Bennett are very athletic and can get downhill quickly. Their defensive ends are very athletic,” Boedeker said. “We cannot give Ash and their offense extra possessions by turning the ball over or punting. We must sustain drives and score every chance we get because we know they will score some points.”
The winner of the game will face either Gruver or Muenster at 11 a.m. Dec. 18 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington in the 2ADII state title game.
