Shiner football: Shiner earns 15-2AD2 title with win over YHS

Shiner put the finishing touches on its 15-2ADII district title with a 54-13 win at Yorktown on Friday to conclude the regular season.
Five different Comanches scored one rushing touchdown; quarterback Carson Schuette threw for two touchdowns and the Comanches scored on a fumble recovery for the second game in a row.
Schuette’s 31-yard pass to Kye Adamek with 10:39 left in the first quarter opened scoring with a 7-0 Shiner lead.
Schuette scored on a 1-yard run four minutes later for a 13-0 lead after the point after was missed.
The Comanches went ahead 21-0 at the 3:50 mark with an 8-yard run by Caleb Lehnert and Clayton Fric had a two-point run.
Brody Metting got the Wildcats on the board with a 2-yard run 50 seconds into the second quarter, 21-6 after a missed two-point conversion. The Comanches went up 27-6 after an 18-yard pass from Schuette to Boe Boehm. Shiner got two more scores before halftime: a 9-yard run by Tyler Harvey at 3:57 and he had a two-point run. Adamek recovered a fumble and returned it 75 yards for a touchdown with no time remaining in the first half for a 41-6 Shiner lead.
Caleb Cowan had a 2-yard run to up Shiner’s lead to 48-6 with 8:34 left in the third period. In the fourth quarter,  Fric had a 3-yard run two minutes in for a 54-6 Comanche advantage. Yorktown got a score from a 10-yard run by Ethan Fritts.
For Shiner, Schuette was 5-for-6 for 144 yards; Boehm had three catches for 100 yards. Quincy Jones led the Comanche ground game with 78 yards on nine carries.
