Shiner football: Shiner picked to make it to regional game
The Shiner Comanches return just five starters, three offensive and two defensive, but still have a shot at making the fourth round.
Football publication Dave Campbell’s Texas Football predicts Shiner to advance to its fourth straight appearance in the state quarterfinals of 2ADI.
DCTF has the Comanches ranked No. 9 in its 2ADI rankings and predict Shiner will finish district runner up with the Refugio Bobcats taking first place.
The Comanches return 22 lettermen from the 11-3 2022 team and the biggest key according to DCTF, will be rebuilding the offensive line around Colton Winkenwerder to provide running room for running back Trace Bishop. Other key players are TE-LB Kyle Muehlstein, QB-DB Carson Schuette, OL-DL Jared Werner, RB-LB Landyn Pohler, WR-DB Cale Shows, WR-DB Jordan Harrison and RB-DB Caleb Lehnert.
DCTF predicts Three Rivers and Ganado will take the third and fourth playoff spots in the district and says Shiner will once again play Refugio in the state quarterfinals to see who will represent Region IV in the state semifinals.
