Shiner football:Dalton Brooks plays in all games for Aggie football
Shiner 2022 graduate Dalton Brooks saw action in every game on defense and/or special teams during his sophomore year in the 2024 season for SEC member Texas A&M.
He played in the season and the home opener Aug. 31 against Notre Dame with the Aggies falling 23-13.
In the home Sept. 7 game against McNeese State, Brooks had three assists, three total tackles, 0.5 tackles for a loss of two yards in a 52-10 Aggie win.
He had one solo tackle, one total tackle and one pass breakup in a 33-20 A&M win at Florida in both the conference opener and first conference away action.
On Sept 21, Brooks had one solo tackle, one assist, two total tackles and 1.0 tackles for loss of two yards in the Aggies’ 26-20 win over Bowling Green.
Sept. 28 against Arkansas at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, he had five solo tackles, two assists, seven total tackles and 2.0 tackles for loss of six yards in a 21-17 A&M win.
Brooks had five solo tackles, one assist, six total tackles and 1.0 tackles for loss of five yards in a 41-10 A&M win over Missouri at home.
In the Aggies’ 34-24 win at Mississippi State on Oct. 19, he had three solo tackles, six assists for nine total tackles and had two kickoff returns for a total of 36 yards.
In the Oct. 26 home game against LSU, Brooks made two solo tackles, one assist, three total tackles, one quarterback hurry and one pass breakup as A&M won 38-23.
On Nov. 2 at South Carolina, he contributed three solo tackles, two assists and five total tackles as A&M came up short 44-20.
The Aggies hosted New Mexico State on Nov. 16 in a non-conference tilt with A&M winning 38-2 and Brooks making three solo tackles, three total tackles and one quarterback hurry. A&M returned to conference play Nov. 23 at Auburn, losing a barnburner 43-41 in four overtimes with Brooks making three solo tackles, three total tackles, 1.0 tackle for loss of eight yards and 1.0 sack for loss of eight yards.
Nov. 30 against rival Texas, Brooks had one of his best games of the season with nine solo tackles, one assist and 10 total tackles which led the Aggies defensive effort. The Longhorns managed a 17-7 win.
Brooks played in the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl held at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas on Dec. 27 against USC.
He made three solo tackles, four assists, seven total tackles and had one interception as A&M fell 35-31.
Brooks played in 13 games and started eight games.
He totaled 38 solo tackles, 21 assists, 59 total tackles (second on the team), 5.5 tackles for a loss of 23 yards (top five on the team), 1.0 sacks for loss of eight yards, one interception, three quarterback hurries and two pass breakups.
On special teams, he returned two kickoffs for 36 yards.
He had a season-high 10 total tackles against Texas, had one sack against Auburn and one interception against USC.
The Aggies finished 8-5 overall, 5-3 in SEC play, 5-2 at home, 2-2 on the road and 1-1 at neutral sites.
