Shiner football:UTSA, Taylor brothers post 11-3 mark in 2022

Shiner brothers Dadrian and Donyai Taylor made plenty of plays for the University of Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners football team in 2022.
Dadrian
Dadrian,listed as an outside linebacker, made some plays on special teams as well as defense.
In the  Sept. 3.season-opening loss to Houston at home in three overtimes ,37-35, he made seven solo tackles, three assists, one tackle for a loss of four years and one forced fumble.
Sept. 10 at Army, UTSA went in overtime again but came away 41-38 winners. Dadrian played just special teams returning three kickoffs for 25 yards and had a long return of 16 yards.
His next game was Sept. 30 at Middle Tennessee State, a 45-30 win for the Roadrunners. Dadrian had one tackle and one assist.
In the Oct. 8, 31-28 home win over Western Kentucky, Dadrian had two solo tackles.
At Florida International on Oct. 14, a 30-10 win for UTSA, he had one solo tackle, one assist and 0.5 tackle for loss.
Back in the Alamodome on Oct. 22  against North Texas, UTSA won 31-27 with Dadrian a very busy person with one solo tackle, three assists, one and half tackles for a five-yard loss, one sack for a loss of five yards, one pass breakup and one quarterback hurry.
On the road against UAB on Nov. 5, UTSA went to double overtime, winning 44-38. Dadrian had two tackles and three assists.
In the 51-7 rout of Louisiana Tech at home on Nov. 12, he had one assist and one pass breakup.
In the Roadrunner’s 41-7 win at Rice Nov. 19, Dadrian had three solo tackles, three assists, 0.5 sacks for three yards, one-and-half tackles for a loss of 10 total yards.
In UTSA’s home win over UTEP 34-31 on Nov. 26, he had three solo tackles, one forced fumble and returned an interception 73 yards for a touchdown.
The Roadrunners rematched UNT, playing them in the C-USA title game in the Alamodome on Dec. w. UTSA took a 48-27 win with Dadrian making two solo tackles, two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry.
UTSA concluded the season in the Duluth Trading Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla Dec. 16, falling to Troy 18-12 with Dadrian contributing three solo tackles, one assist, one tackle for loss of one yard.
For the season, Dadrian returned three kickoffs for 25 yards, long of 16 and averaged 8.3 yards a return. In 13 games, he had 23 solo tackles, 13 assists, 36 total tackles, four tackles for loss for 10 yards, one sack for a loss of five yards, had one interception return for a touchdown of 73 yards, six pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries for three yards.
Donyai
Like his brother, Donyai is also an outside linebacker.
His first action came in the loss to Houston Sept. 3 where he made three solo tackles, three assists, 0.5 sacks for loss of three yards and one-and-half tackles for loss for 10 yards.
In the Sept. 17 41-20 loss at Texas, Donyai had one solo tackle and one assist.
In the home win, 52-24, over Texas Southern on Sept. 24, he had two solo tackles, three assists, .5 tackles for loss of two yards and .5 sacks for loss of two yards.
Against Middle Tennessee State, Donyai had one solo tackle.
Against Western Kentucky, he chipped in six solo tackles and two assists.
In the FIU game, Donyai made one assist, 0.5 tackles for loss of one yard.
He made one solo tackle in the Oct. 22 game against UNT and against Rice, he had one solo tackle, one assist and one fumble recovery for eight yards.In the UTEP game, he had one solo tackle; In the C-USA championship, he added one solo tackle and in the Duluth Trading Cure Bowl, he had one solo tackle.
For the season, he had 18 solo tackles, 11 assists, 29 total tackles,  two-and-half tackle for loss for 13 yards, one sack for loss of five yards and one fumble recovery for eight yards.
