Shiner Little League: Shiner LL 8U softball, baseball special tournament results
Shiner Little League 8U softball and baseball battled in their District 31 Special Tournaments starting June 2 in Yoakum.
8U Softball
Hallettsville 2, Shiner 0
Hallettsville scored two runs at the start of the game and held on for a 2-0 win on June 2.
Shiner was unable to bring a run in despite getting five hits in the contest.
For Shiner, Chaley Holik, Tatum Burlin, Vivienne McDonald, Cora Netardus and Grace Rother each were 1-for-2.
Shiner 15, Lockhart 0
Shiner scored five runs at each time at bat for a 15-0 rebound win in three innings on June 3 against Lockhart.
To open the game, Caroline Wiederhold was hit by the pitch. Holik singled and went to second on the throw while Wiederhold got to third.
Wiederhold later stole home for a 1-0 Shiner lead. Tatum Burlin got a hit and McDonald put a ball into the outfield to score Holik, Burlin and herself for a three-run, inside-the-park home run for a 4-0 lead. Jurnee Perez later singled and scored for a 5-0 lead to reach the five-run limit for the half inning.
Holik combined with first baseman McDonald for the first out in the bottom of the inning and then two straight Lockhart batters struck out.
Adalynn Pauler started the second inning with a single. Wiederhold got a hit with one out and Holik scored Pauler on a hit. Wiederhold advanced home on a steal and Shiner scored three more runs on four hits.
Lockhart got a two-out single in the bottom of the inning for their lone hit of the game.
Shiner scored five runs in the third on six hits and kept Lockhart off the board to end the game early.
Holik pitched for Shiner.
At the plate, McDonald was 3-for-3, a home run, two total runs and six RBI.Wiederhold was 2-for-2 with three runs; Holik got three hits and scored three runs; Burlin had three runs and went 3-for-3. Netardus was 1-for-2; Perez hit 2-for-2, run and RBI; Charlotte Stafford was 2-for-2 and one run; Brooke Pavelka went 2-for-2, and Pauler had two hits and two runs.

Shiner wrapped up the tournament on June 4, falling to Cuero 7-0.

Shiner opened the tournament with an 8-2 loss to Hallettsville on June 2.

Shiner grabbed an early advantage with a 1-0 lead after two innings June 4 against Cuero before Cuero scored once in the third and once in the fifth for a 2-1 win, ending Shiner’s tournament run.
Coming into the bottom of the fifth inning with a 1-1 score, Cuero’s Kannan Hahn singled, followed by a hit by Callahan Adams. Hahn reached third and then advanced home for the walk-off score.
To open the game, Shiner’s Jordan Patek was hit by the pitch; Brycen Rehak then lined out to short stop and the throw to first doubled off Patek for a double play to end the half inning.
Ryder Welch got a double for Cuero and Tucker Smith was walked. Shiner then turned a double play.
Patek fielded a ball and tagged out Welch before throwing to first baseman Ellis Baker.
With two outs in the top of the second, Jack Park singled and Everett Jalufka got a hit as well. Maston Davis scored Park on a hit for a 1-0 lead for Shiner.
Cuero tied the game in the bottom of the third frame when Lincoln Draper got a hit, went to second on a two-out single by Welch and later scored on a steal of home.
For Shiner, Park was 1-for-2 with one run; Davis hit 1-for-1 with an RBI.
Rehak, Owen Koncaba, Jalufka, Kane Pohler, Holdyn Nevlud and Baker all got one hit.
Rehak started on the mound and was later relieved by Patek, who struck out one batter.
