Shiner softball: Lady Comanches win district opener, go 5-1 at SH tourney

    The Lady Comanches softball team won their district opener against Flatonia and went 5-1 in the Sacred Heart Tournament last week.
    Shiner 18, Flatonia 0
    Reagan Fluitt went 2-for-3, one home run, two total runs, a triple and four RBI to lead Shiner to an 18-0 win in three innings Feb. 25  in the district opener against Flatonia in Flatonia.
    Shiner scored three runs in the opening innings, eight in the second and plated seven in the third box.
    Two other Lady Comanches got multiple hits — Jo Caka was 2-for-2, three runs, RBI, three stolen bases; Dyllan Chrismon went 2-for-3, one RBI.
    Chrismon picked up the win at pitcher with no-hit shutout with a walk and six strikeouts in three innings.
    Callie Sevcik had two putouts.

    Fluitt’s three-run homer, her second straight game with a jack, was the icing on the cake in the third frame that saw the Lady Comanches score all of their runs to open the tournament with a 7-0 win over Tidehaven.
    Kloe Polasek got things started in the bottom of the third with a leadoff double; Caka was walked. Polasek went home on the Brinley Ramirez single and Caka advanced home on a Sevcik flyball to center field. Hailey Radicke was hit by the pitch and  Kailey Boedeker scored both players on a double. Cami Cowan was walked and Fluitt sent Boedeker, Cowan and herself home with a shot over the left-field wall. 
    Tidehaven went down in order in every inning except for the fifth when they got a leadoff walk.
    Chrismon took the win with her second consecutive no-hit shutout. She had one walk and one strikeout in five innings.
    On defense, Cowan had seven putouts and Ramirez added three.

    Shiner got off to a good start against Yoakum, scoring four runs on four hits in the top of the first inning. Afterwards, the Lady Comanches got nothing else as Yoakum came back for a 9-4 win in 3 innings later on Thursday.
    Caka got a leadoff walk, stole second and went to third on a passed ball. She scored on Polasek’s two-out single. Chrismon and Riley Fluitt each got singles with Riley Fluitt’s hit scoring Polasek.
    Kallie Kupka then doubled in Chrismon and Riley Fluitt.
    In the bottom of the second, Faith McCloud drew a walk, took second on a wild pitch; Olivia Fojt was walked; Lilly Fojt singled in McCloud; Morgan Yoakley reached on an error while Olivia Fojt scored. Runner Taylor Velek went to second on a passed ball while Lilly Fojt scored. Velek scored on a Teagan Ratley single to tie the game at 4-4 and Ratley gave Yoakum a 5-4 lead on the RBI single by Deveah Rios.
    In the second frame, McCloud and Olivia Fojt were walked and both scored on Lilly Fojt’s double.
    Lilly Fojt later scored on a sacrifice bunt by Yoakley. 
    Yoakum added one more run in the bottom of the third when McCloud got a bunt single and later scored on a steal of home. Yoakum had two outs and Hannah Schultz was up to bat when the game was called due to the time limit.
    Riley Fluitt led Shiner with two hits, run and RBI; Kupka got two RBIs and a double. Polasek took the loss with 2 2/3 innings, nine runs on seven hits, four walks and four strikeouts. Chrismon had two putouts.

    Ramirez went 2-for-3 with three total runs, home run, double and two RBI to lead Shiner to a 19-5 win over Vertias Academy on Friday.
    Shiner outscored Veritas 9-1 in the first frame and 10-0 in the second inning; the Lady Defenders outscored Shiner 4-0 in the third inning.
    Sevcik hit 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI; Chrismon was 2-for-3 with two runs, one RBI; Caka was 1-for-2 with two runs.
    Lauren Springfield got the win at pitcher with one run on one hit, one walk and three strikeouts in two innings worked. Radicke worked 1/3 innings with three runs, one hit, two walks and one strikeout. Cowan closed with 2/3 innings, one run, one batter hit and one strikeout.Chrismon made two putouts in the field.

    The Lady Comanches scored four runs in the bottom of the second to secure a 10-2 win over Wharton later on Friday.
    Shiner led 2-0 after the first inning and Wharton got within 6-1 in the top of the third.
    Shiner scored three runs in the bottom of the third and each team scored once in the fourth inning.
    At the plate Cowan was 1-for-3, three runs, two RBI, one double; Radicke batted 1-for-3, two runs, two RBI, one double; Boedeker hit 1-for-3 with one double. Caka was 1-for-2, run and RBI.
    Chrismon got another win with four innings, two runs on six hits, one batter hit and four strikeouts.
    Cowan had four putouts on defense.

    The Lady Comanches scored a run in the sixth inning to walk off a 6-5 win against Austin Hyde Park on Saturday morning, coming back from 4-0 down.
    Hyde Park took a 2-0 lead after the first inning and went up 4-0 in the top of the fourth. 
    Shiner got within 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth. 
    The Lady Panthers took a 5-2 lead in the top of the fifth before Shiner scored three to tie the game in the bottom of the inning.
    Ramirez was 2-for-2 with run and double; Riley Fluitt went 1-for-2, home run, two RBI; Radicke, Reagan Fluitt and Sevcik each got a double.
    Chrismon pitched two innings with four runs on three hits, three walks and two strikeouts.
    Polasek worked two innings, one hit, one run and one walk.
    Cowan had six putouts in the field.

    Cowan was 2-for-3 with a   run and a double; Boedeker finished 1-for-2, run, home run and two RBI. Reagan Fluitt and Polasek also had a double.
    Springfield pitched three frames with two hits, two runs and a strikeout.
    Polasek worked two innings with one run on two hits and one strikeout.
    Chrismon had seven putouts.
