Shiner softball: Lady Comanches win five of six at LG tournament

    The Shiner softball team went 5-1 at the La Grange Tournament last Thursday through Saturday
    Thursday
    Shiner 11, East Bernard 1
    The Lady Comanches got hot in the last two innings of their tournament opener against East Bernard.
    With a 1-1 tie, entering the top of the fourth, Shiner got four hits and scored eight runs total in the fourth and fifth frames for  an 11-1 win on Thursday morning.
    In the top of the fourth, Kloe Polasek got a leadoff double; Reagan Fluitt then hit the ball over the left-field wall for a two-run homer and a 3-1 Shiner lead. 
    In the fifth inning, East Bernard replaced starting pitcher Haley Preisler with Kylie Zurate. 
    Leadoff Riley Fluitt reached on an error and then stole second. Cami Cowan and Lauren Springfield were each hit by the pitch to load the bases. Polasek singled in Riley Fluitt and Cowan.  Reagan Fluitt reached on an error. Kalli Kupka was walked with bases loaded to score Springfield’s runner Arian Brown. 
    Later, Gracyn Chrismon grounded out to Zorate to score Kupka and Riley Fluitt scored on a passed ball for an 11-1 Shiner lead.
    EB started off with an early lead: Preisler got a leadoff triple and scored on a passed ball.
    The Lady Comanches tied the game in the third inning as Grace Nevlud was walked with one out and moved to second on Chrismon’s sacrifice groundout to first base. Riley Fluitt scored Nevlud on a two-out, RBI double down the third-base line.
    Polasek was 2-for-3 at the plate, double, two runs and two RBI while Reagan Fluitt hit a two-run homer and scored two runs. Riley Fluitt hit a double, had one RBI and scored twice.
    Lauren Springfield pitched five innings with one run on three hits and three strikeouts.
    Chrismon made five putouts in the field.

    Shiner rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Lago Vista 7-2 to go unbeaten on the day,
    In the  bottom of the first inning, Lady Viking Brynlea Cox and Sabrina Phillips singled with one out. Both runners scored on a two-run single by Winter Callahan.
    In the top of the inning, Shiner threatened with Springfield and Polasek each getting a single with two outs. Reagan Fluitt was walked to load the bases but Lago Vista got out of the jam with Kupka’s fly ball to third base. 
    In the top of the third, Shiner got within 2-1 with Riley Fluitt’s leadoff, single home run over the center-field wall.
    Shiner grabbed the lead as Polasek got a hit and runner Arian Brown scored on a RBI triple by Reagan Fluitt.
    In the fourth inning, Kara Kupka led off with a walk, followed by a Nevlud  single. Both runners advanced one base on a Chrismon sacrifice bunt.  With two outs, Cowan was walked to load the bases. 
    Springfield brought in Nevlud and Cowan with a single before scoring on Polasek’s base hit. Shiner scored one more run as Reagan Fluitt brought in Brown on a double.
    At the plate, Polasek got three hits with one RBI, Springfield was 2-for-3, run, double and pair of RBI while Reagan Fluitt got two hits, triple, double and two RBI while Riley Fluit had a solo home run.
    Polasek earned the win with two runs on three hits, one wild pitch, one walk and three strikeouts in four innings worked.
    Springfield made three putouts in the field.

    Shiner 4, La Grange 2
    Down 2-1 to the hosts 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning, Shiner scored three runs and ended up with a 4-2 win on Friday.
    La Grange scored one run in the bottom of the first and second innings; Shiner scored once in the top of the fourth.
    At the plate, Kara Kupka got a solo home run and Polasek was 1-for-3 with one double
    Springfield pitched five innings with two runs on three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.
    Chrismon made five putouts in the field.

    Kalli Kupka and Reagan Fluitt each had one home run in Shiner’s 7-1 win over New Braunfels Thunder to wrap up Friday.
    Each team scored one run in the first inning; Shiner scored one run in the second box, three runs in the third and two in the fourth.
    Polasek held Thunder to one run on five hits with one wild pitch, one walk and five strikeouts in four innings worked.
    Riley Fluitt made three putouts on defense.

    The Lady Bluejays scored one run in the second and one in the third while holding the Lady Comanches to a single score in a 2-1 win on Saturday morning.
    Addy Siegel scored the lone Shiner run on a home run and Polasek was 1-for-2.
    Springfield ceded two runs on four hits with two walks and a strikeout in four innings.
    Cowan had five putouts and one assist in the field.

    Shiner scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning for a 3-2 rally against Thorndale.
    The Lady Bulldogs opened scoring with two runs in the third frame.
    On the bats, Hailey Radicke hit 1-for-3,  double, two RBI.
    Kenzie Springfield was 1-for-2 with a double and RBI. Reagan Fluitt, Riley Fluitt and Maddi Hubbard scored one run each.
    Chrismon started at pitcher with one inning and two hits; Brown worked one inning with one hit.
    Polasek pitched 2/3 innings, one hit, two runs, three walks and one strikeout; Radicke worked one inning with one strikeout.
    Siegel got the win with 1 1/3 innings pitched.
    In the field, Kalli Kupka had three putouts and two assists.
