Shiner softball: LCs hit five blasts against Weimar

    The Lady Comanches softball team blanked both Schulenburg and Weimar last week.

    The Shiner Lady Comanches held another home-run derby.
    This time it was in a 16-0 win over Weimar Friday at home.
    The Lady Comanches hit five over the fence and the winner was senior Lauren Springfield who hit two jacks. Fellow seniors Kloe Polasek, Hailey Radicke and Addy Siegel had one jack each.
    Shiner scored eight runs in the first frame, brought in three in the second and scored five in the third square.
    Springfield ruled the circle by holding Weimar to one hit and striking out seven.
    In the field, Radicek and Taylor Kocian had one putout each.
    Polasek was the top hitter with three hits, three runs and three RBI; Springfield got two hits with four RBI; Siegel scored twice and brought in two runs while Radicke scored three times and had three RBI.

    Springfield shut out Schulenburg with a no hitter and seven strikeouts while Polasek hit 3-for-4, home run, two runs and three RBI in a 17-0 Shiner win on the road April 7 to complete the season sweep.
    Cami Cowan was 2-for-4, double and thee RBI; Springfield got two hits, doubled and had one RBI. Kalli Kupka was 2-for-3, run and two RBI. Radicke got a hit and scored three runs.
    Cowan made five putouts on defense for Shiner.
    Shiner led 2-0 after one inning, outscored the Lady Shorthorns 2-0 in the third frame, scored nine in the fourth and four in the fifth.
