Shiner softball: Shiner softball wins five of six games at Rice Tournament

The Lady Comanches softball team started off the 2025 season by going 5-1 in the Rice Consolidated Tournament Thursday through Saturday. 
Shiner 15, Brazos 1
Brinley Ramirez went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, four RBI, a home run and a triple as Shiner beat Wallis Brazos 15-1 in three innings on Thursday.
Shiner scored five runs at each time at bat and yielded one run to Brazos in the top of the second frame. Dyllan Chrismon got her first win of the regular season with three innings, one run, one wild pitch, two walks and five strikeouts.
Cami Cowan had five putouts and Kara Kupka had three assists.

The Lady Comanches scored seven runs in the bottom of the third inning and did not allow a run as they beat Palacios 7-0 in the second game on Thursday in four innings.
At the plate, Jewell Caka was 1-for-2, 2 runs with a double; Ramirez hit 1-for-2 with one run, RBI and a double.
Kloe Polasek got the win with four innings, no-hit shutout, one batter hit, two walks and seven strikeouts. In the field, Chrismon made four putouts.

The Lady Gobblers scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to rally from 6-2 down to a 7-6 win over Shiner on Friday.
Each team scored one run in the first and second innings; Shiner scored one run in the third for a 3-2 lead. The Lady Comanches then scored once in the fourth and twice in the fifth.
Chrismon hit 3-for-3 for one RBI; Polasek was 2-for-3, home run, 2 RBI and Caka hit 2-for-3, double and run.
Chrismon pitched 5 2/3 innings with seven runs on eight hits, one walk and seven strikeouts.
On defense, Cowan had six putouts.

Cowan had a solid performance, going 2-for-3 with three runs, home run and five RBI while picking up the win inside the circle with one run, four walks, four strikeouts in two innings pitched in Shiner’s 17-3 win over the hosts later on Friday. 
Ramirez went 2-for-2, three runs, RBI, double and triple; Polasek hit 2-for-2, two runs, two RBI and a double.
Shiner led 4-1 after one inning and outscored the Lady Raiders 6-0 in the second frame. In the third and final box, Shiner scored seven runs and Rice had two.

The Lady Comanches scored five runs at their first time at bat and went on to defeat Sealy junior varsity 10-5 in their first action of Saturday.
The Lady Tigers got within 5-2 in the bottom of the first inning; Shiner outscored Sealy 3-0 in the second inning and 1-0 in the fourth inning. The Lady Tigers plated three of four runs in the fifth inning.
At the plate, Ramirez went 2-for-2 with three runs, triple; Reagan Fluitt batted 2-for-3 with one run and Cowan got a home run, scored two runs and had three RBI.
Polasek started at pitcher, went 4 2/3 innings, five runs on five hits, three wild pitches, two walks and six strikeouts to take the win. Brown worked 1/3 innings in relief with one walk.
Reagan Fluitt made three putouts and Kara Kupka added two putouts.

The Lady Comanches closed out the tournament with a 9-3 win over Boling.
Shiner led 6-0 after one inning and Boling outscored the Lady Comanches 2-1 in the third inning.
The Lady Bulldogs got within 7-3 after four innings and the Lady Comanches put the game away with two runs scored in the top of the fifth inning.
Cowan went 2-for-3 with three runs, Polasek hit 2-for-3 with one stolen base, Chrismon batted 2-for-2, run, RBI and three stolen bases. Ramirez was 1-for-3 and a solo home run.Brown took the win with five innings, three runs on seven hits and nine strikeouts. Chrismon had five putouts.
