Shiner track and field: Shiner boys track capture district championship

    The Shiner varsity boys track team earned the 28-2A team title and the Lady Comanches varsity came in runner up at the district meet Thursday and Saturday in Ganado.
    Top four in each varsity event advance to the area meet next Thursday in Flatonia.
    Varsity Girls
    The Lady Comanches got 160 points for second with champion Weimar getting 178.5 points.
    JaLeah Curtis won the 200-meter dash, got second in the 100.
    JaMya Wright won the  high jump and the 400, and got third in the 100.
    Brinley Ramirez won the long jump and got third in the 200.
    Kallee Kifer got second in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.
    Kailey Boedeker got second in the discus and shot put; Peyton Wegener got third in the triple jump; Reagan Horn placed third in the pole vault.
    The 400 relay team of Ramirez, Jaliyah Barnett, Wright and Curtis took first place. 
    The 1600 relay team of Lily Prove, Tatum Carson, Horn and Jaeleigh Ramirez got third.

    Varsity Boys
    The Comanches outscored Weimar 162-116 to claim the district championship.
    Triston Vesely won the 100; Boe Boehm won the 300 hurdles and placed third in high jump. Tyler Harvey got first in the long jump; and third in pole vault. Reese Carson got third in the 400.
    Quincy Jones  won the triple jump and got third in the long jump.
    The 400-relay team of Caleb Cowan, Vesely, Harvey and Jones took first place.
    The 800-relay team of Cowan, Jones, Jarvis Williams and Harvey got third place.
    The 1600-relay team of Carson, Boehm, Vesely and Harvey came in third.
    Reese Carson placed third in the 400. Landen Christensen was runner up in the 110 hurdles.

    The Lady Comanches recorded 28 points for fifth place.
    Kiera Curtis won the 200 and 400; A’Journee Kuykendall was second in high jump.
