Shiner volleyball: Shiner JV wins runner up in Runge

    The Lady Comanches Junior Varsity Gold won second at the Runge Tournament last weekend and went 4-3, with all three losses coming to the hosts.
    Kayden Smith and Emersyn Boehm made All-Tournament.
    Thursday Pool Play
    The Lady Comanches opened with a 21-25, 25-11, 15-11 loss to Runge, beat Nixon-Smiley 25-18, 22-25, 15-8 and beat Waelder 25-11, 25-12.
    Bracket play (double elimination)
    Shiner opened bracket play with a 25-23, 26-25 win over Nixon-Smiley.  Shiner then fell to Runge in a rematch 25-21 and 25-20.
    The Lady Comanches then played and beat Nixon for the third time in the tournament and the second time in bracket play, winning 18-25, 25-23, 15-11. Shiner then played Runge in the championship game, falling 25-9 and 25-20.
