SP wins District title
The St. Paul Lady Cardinals spoiled Parents Night for the Sacred Heart Indianettes and won the TAPPS District 5 Division championship in the process with a 56-31 victory here Tuesday, Feb. 4.
SP leapt out to a 17-9 lead at the end of the first quarter behind 7 points by Kristin Cerny.
The Lady Cardinal lead was extended to 31-15 at the half after a 14-6 second period which was led by Reece Chilek’s 6 markers.
Things got worse in the third stanza when Riley Mozisek scored 9 of her game-high 17 points and SP took a 42-23 advantage into the final 8 minutes.
SH shot a paltry 22.9% and were hampered by a slew of turnovers. The Lady Cardinals shot 40% and committed 19 turnovers.
No Indianette was in double figures. Kenzie Chance was the leading scorer with 9 points.
SH will host Waco Bishop Reicher at 2 p.m. Saturday.
