St. Paul baseball: Cardinal hardballers win one at Lockhart tourney
The St. Paul baseball team went 1-2 in the Lockhart Tournament Thursday through Saturday to open the season.
Austin St. Andrews 13, St. Paul 5
Andy Nunez got two hits, and CJ Fogle hit a home run and had two RBI as St. Paul came up short to Austin Saint Andrews 13-5 Thursday in their first game of the tournament.
St. Andrews led 6-2 after one inning and outscored St. Paul 4-1 in the second box.
The Highlanders outscored St. Paul 3-1 in the third square and the Cardinals outscored St. Austin 1-0 in the fifth inning.
Ian Kennedy started on the mound, going 1 2/3 innings, six hits, 10 runs, five walks and three strikeouts. Jack Leonard worked 1 1/3 innings with three runs on three hits, one wild pitch and one walk.
Levi Leonard threw for the final two innings with one hit, one strikeout.
Jack Ehrig made five putouts.

Evan Rother went 3-for-3, scored two runs and hit a triple, and pitched the whole game with a no-hitter, one run, two walks and 10 strikeouts in a 5-1 win over host Lockhart on Friday.
St. Paul led 1-0 after one inning and 3-0 after three innings.
St. Paul outscored the Lions 2-1 in the fourth inning.
Fogle hit 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and one run while Jace Matias was 1-for-2, one RBI and one double.
Brodey Biehunko made five putouts on defense.

St. Paul was held to two hits and committed six errors in a 13-0 loss to Austin Hyde Park late Friday afternoon.
Hyde Park led 1-0 after the first inning, scored two runs in the second, two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and seven in the sixth.
Matias and Jack Leonard got one hit each for St. Paul.
