St. Paul cross country: State meet is next Monday

    The St. Paul Lady Cardinals cross-country team will try for another 2A team championship next Monday at the TAPPS state cross-country meet at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco.
    “The competition at state will still be tough. If our girls run their race like they have been all season, they have a great chance to come home with the win,” St. Paul head cross-country coach Nicco Brown said.
    While the Cardinals likely not field a full team to compete for a team title, plenty is on the line for the individual runners.
    “Our returning boys definitely have their sights on a competitive race time that will crush all the times they have ran this year,” Brown said. “They are so ready to reach their goals. The newcomers are excited to take on the challenge of a tough competitive race.”
    The 2A boys race will be at 1:15 p.m. and the girls race will be around 2:20.
    Brown said she encourages as many as possible Cardinal supporters to be out in Waco to support the runners.
