St. Paul football: Indians bring down SP 28-6
The St. Paul Cardinals football team had a good first quarter against Sacred Heart on Friday.
The Cardinals scored a touchdown and allowed no points for the Indians.
Unfortunately for the Cardinals, things would not stay that way for the rest of the game as Sacred Heart rallied to defeat St. Paul 28-6 to give both teams a 1-1 record after two district games.
St. Paul led 6-0 in the first quarter with an 11-yard touchdown run by Sam Perez with the point after missed.
Sacred Heart scored on a 3-yard run in the second quarter for a 7-6 lead.
They got points almost immediately after halftime with a 60-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and later scored on a 2-yard run for a 21-6 lead.
Sacred Heart confirmed the win with a 64-yard run in the fourth period.
Perez led the St. Paul rushing attack with 67 yards on 17 carries; Jace Matias was 7-of-9 for 68 yards and Andrew Nunez had four catches for 42 yards.
Holden Jacobs led the defense with four tackles and one assist.
