St. Paul football: Lions blank Cards 40-0
It was a rough night for St. Paul against Central Texas Christian Friday night in Temple as the Cards lost a couple of players to injury.
The Lions came up with a scoreboard shutout in a 40-0 win, leading 26-0 at halftime. Sam Perez led the St. Paul offense as he rushed eight times for 13 yards.
The Cardinals are open this week and will host New Braunfels Christian next week in the regular-season finale.
District stats comparison
Zeke Rodriguez is fourth in the district in passing with 21-of-52 for 343 yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions.
Nate Boedeker is second in the district with 1,280 yards on 166 carries and 11 touchdowns; Zane Barta is fourth with 127 carries for 900 yards and nine touchdowns; Perez is fifth with 49 rushes for 508 yards and one touchdown.
In kickoff return, Barta is first in the district with four returns for 137 yards, a long off 66 and 34.3 average. Gus Collins is fourth with four returns for 108 yards, a long of 45 and an average of 27 per return.

Humes is third in interceptions with three on the season. Boedeker is fifth in scoring with 66 points and Barta is sixth with 54 points.
Nathan Timons is second in scoring by kicking with 25-of-32 extra points for 25 points and Charlie Pilat fifth with 2-of-3 extra points for two points.
