St. Paul football: SP goes to 2-2 with win vs Louise
The St. Paul football team scored 13 points in each of the second and third quarters to rally to beat Louise 26-12 Friday in Louise. The win improved the Cardinals to 2-2 on the season and they will return to the Houston area as they take on Katy St. John XIII.
The Hornets led 6-0 in the first quarter after scoring on a 14-yard pass.
The Cardinals tied things in the second quarter on a Sam Perez 2-yard touchdown run. The Hornets almost scored later in the quarter but Jackson Seibert recovered a fumble at his 4-yard line and raced all the way to the opposite end zone for a 13-6 St. Paul lead after Carter Chilek’s PAT.
Perez scored on runs of 4 and 22 yards to put the Cardinals ahead 26-6 in the third quarter.
The Hornets got one more score in the fourth frame on a 72-yard pass.
Perez led the St. Paul offense with 137 yards and three touchdowns. Jack Ehrig had five tackles, one tackle for loss and Seibert had three tackles, three assists, one interception and one fumble recovery; Matias grabbed two interceptions.
