St. Paul girls basketball: St. Paul girls win three games at Flatonia Tournament

    The Lady Cardinals won at Kenedy and won three of four games in the Flatonia Tournament.
    St. Paul 46, Kenedy 36
    A 14-1 run in the opening quarter by St. Paul was enough to help seal a 46-36 win at Kenedy on Dec. 9
    Kenedy outscored St. Paul 13-10 in the second box for a 24-14 St. Paul lead at halftime.
    Kenedy scored 15 of 25 points in the third quarter to get within 34-29; the Lady Cards put the game away with a 12-7 fourth-quarter run.
    Riley Mozisek was the top scorer for St. Paul with 16 points; McKinley Jacobs (11) and Kristin Cerny (10) were also in double digits.
    Isabella Ortiz dropped in 17 points for Kenedy.

    Annabell Collins sank 13 points and Kristin Cerny deposited another 11 points in St. Paul’s 47-32 win over East Bernard on Thursday.
    St. Paul led 19-4 after the end of the first quarter and built a 28-10 halftime advantage.
    St. Paul extended the lead with 17 of 27 points in the third quarter; East Bernard scored 12 of 14 points in the fourth period.
    Haley Preisler led EB with 12 points.

    The Lady Cardinals led Giddings 40-35 with one quarter left but Giddings went on a 10-0 run and held off St. Paul late for a 52-49 win on Thursday in the second Lady Cards game.
    Majowski made two triples for the Lady Buffaloes during the 10-0 run for a 45-40 lead.
    Kristin Cerny made a trey for St. Paul and later scored after a steal.
    Reese Chilek later made a shot for a 47-47 tie and a Riley Mozisek bucket with 57 seconds left gave St. Paul a slim 49-48 advantage. A bucket by Giddings Jayla llanas gave them a 50-49 lead and Giddings went ahead 52-49 after two free throws.
    With four seconds left, the Lady Cardinals got the ball via a jump ball but were unable to score.
    Cerny and Mozisek each scored a triple in the first frame with Ashlin DeSarro making two buckets for a 12-6 lead.Harville tallied six points for Giddings during their 20-12 third-quarter run that put them ahead 26-24 at halftime.
    Giddings got a 33-24 lead in the third quarter but St. Paul went on a 16-2 run led by seven points from Cerny, McKinley Jacobs chipped in four points and Annabelle Collins sank five points.
    Cerny led St. Paul with 19 points and three treys while Giddings was led by Majowski who had 15 points, all on triples.

    Cerny scored 15 points and a triple with Addy Matias (11) and McKinley Jacobs (10) also scoring in double digits in St. Paul’s 59-23 win over Fayetteville on Friday.
    St. Paul led 14-7 after eight minutes and 28-9 at halftime.The Lady Cards went on a 17-3 run in the third box and outscored the Lady Lions 17-11 in the fourth frame. Ashlin DeSarro and Annabelle Collins each had 11 rebounds.
    DeVynn Moeckel scored 10 points for Fayetteville.

    St. Paul trailed Bellville 25-24 at halftime but outscored them 20-13 in the second half for a 44-38 win later on Friday.
    Bellville led 15-12 after one quarter and St. Paul went on a 12-10 run in the second box. The Lady Cards took the lead with a 12-8 advantage in the third quarter, and then scored eight of 13 in the fourth quarter.
    Cerny led the Lady Cards with 11 points and two triples; DeSarro had 10 rebounds.
    Maggie Davoody made three treys and registered 12 points to lead Bellville.
