St. Paul softball: Lady Cardinals win non-district games at VV, Calhoun JV

    The Lady Cardinals won non-district games at Van Vleck and at Port Lavaca Calhoun junior varsity last week.

    Reese Patek went 4-for-5, three doubles, four runs and two RBI with Hayden Rother hitting 2-for-3, double, and four runs, and Tatum Walker getting two hits and driving in two runs as St. Paul defeated Van Vleck March 10 on the road 14-9.
    St. Paul led 2-0 after one inning and outscored Van Vleck 3-2 in the third inning. St. Paul scored four of six runs in the fourth and outscored the Lady Leopards 5-2 in the fifth inning. Van Vleck outscored the Lady Cards 3-0 in the sixth square.
    Walker pitched 3 2/3 innings with two runs on three hits, three walks and five strikeouts; Patek pitched one inning with three hits, two runs, one batter hit and two walks; Annie Werner worked 1/3 innings, two runs on one hit, two walks; Presley Rother pitched two innings with three runs, one batter hit, two walks and five strikeouts.
    Emori Rodriguez had three putouts on defense.

    The Lady Cardinals scored a dozen runs at their first time at bat against Port Lavaca Calhoun JV and won 18-1 in five innings.
    St. Paul outscored the Lady Sandcrabs 4-0 in the second inning and 2-0 in the fifth.
    Patek led on offense, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI.
    Eden Rodriguez hit 2-for-4, triple run and four RBI. Hayden Rother and Presley Tuch also got two hits.
    Walker started at  pitcher, going 1 2/3 innings with one run on one hit, one walk and five strikeouts. Annie Werner worked 2 1/3 innings, one hit and four strikeouts.
    Patek had two putouts and one assist on defense.
