St. Paul softball: Lady Cards win three at Flatonia tournament

    The Lady Cardinals softball team lost at La Grange and won three at the Flatonia tournament for a total of five games from last week.
    La Grange 4, St. Paul 0
    Reese Patek went 2-for-3 with Eden Rodriguez and Presley Tuch each getting one hit as St. Paul came up short at La Grange 4-0 on March 3.
    The Lady Leopards scored a single run in the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
    Tatum Walker pitched five innings with three hits, three runs, one walk and eight strikeouts. Presley Rother worked one inning, one run and one walk. 
    Patek made three putouts on defense.

    Annie Werner threw a three-hit shutout of Wallis Brazos with one walk and two strikeouts in a 7-0 St. Paul win Thursday afternoon.
    St. Paul ended a scoreless game with two runs in the top of the third and then scored five in the fifth inning.
    At the plate, Rodriguez hit 2-for-2, double, three RBI and a run; Walker got two hits, triple and RBI; Tuch batted 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; Presley Rother tripled, scored one run and had one RBI.
    Addy Matias made six putouts on defense.

    The hosts Lady Bulldogs scored in the bottom of the fourth inning for a walk-off 6-5 win over St. Paul later on Thursday afternoon.
    St. Paul opened scoring at the start with a single run and scored two runs in the top of third. Flatonia took a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the inning before the Lady Cards drew level with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth.
    Tuch got two hits, home run, double and three RBI; Walker also homered and got two RBI.
    Rother pitched 3 1/3 innings with six hits, six runs, one batter hit, two walks and three strikeouts. Patek had four putouts on defense.

    Walker had her second straight game with a home run to bring the tournament total to two as she got two hits, scored three runs, doubled and had three RBI. Patek was 3-for-3, double, two runs and four RBI; Rother and Kennedy each went 2-for-3 with one run as St. Paul demolished Schulenburg 12-2 on Friday morning
    St. Paul outscored the Lady Shorthorns 3-0 in each inning in the first two innings, Schulenburg got within 6-2 in the bottom of the third and St. Paul scored six in the fourth frame.
    Walker pitched three frames with two hits, two runs, one walk and seven strikeouts. Patek pitched one ining in relief with one walk and two strikeouts.
    Patek, Rother and Kristen Cerny all had one putout in the field.

    Walker hit 2-for-3 for a double, run and three RBI while Tuch hit 2-for-3, run and RBI in St. Paul’s 11-5 win over Luling on Friday afternoon.
    St. Paul led 1-0 after one inning; they outscored the Lady Eagles 8-4 in the second inning and then 2-1 in the third.
    Patek pitched the first 1 2/3 innings, four runs, four walks and three strikeouts; Werner worked 1/3 innings with one run, two walks and Presley Rother finished out with one inning, one hit, one walk and two strikeouts.
    Matias had two putouts in the field.
