Tribe 2-0 in District

The Sacred Heart Indians defeated St. Paul, 59-48 in Shiner Friday for their second TAPPS District 5 Division IV victory against no defeats.

The Indians held a 14- 11 lead at the end of the first quarter with Hudson Kutac scoring 8 points.

SH the advantage was increased to 27-17 at the intermission with Andrew Steffek having the hot hand in the second period with 10 points including two threes.

The Cardinals made up some ground in the third quarter by out-scoring the Indians 18-15 and cut the lead the lead to 42-25.

Kolby Haas and Sam Bludau kept the Indians afloat with 5 and 4 points respectively in the final eight minutes.

Three players were in double figures for SH with Steffek scoring 21 points, Kutac 12 and Kolby Haas 11.

Indians 71, VFA 59

Andrew Steffek and Hudson Kutac combined for 52 points in the Sacred Heart Indians’ 71-59 victory over Victoria Faith Academy here Tuesday, Jan. 14.

Steffek poured in 30 points and Kutac 22 in the TAPPS District 5 District IV opener.

The Indians scored the first 9 points of the game. Steffek, who was 12 of 16 from the field in the game, got the Tribe off to a good start with 11 points in the initial quarter and an 18- 10 lead.

Kutac paced the second period scoring with 10 points and the advantage was 33-14 at the half.

The closest the Cougars got the rest of the way was 69-59 in the waning minutes of the final period.
