Yoakum cross country: Yoakum girls return to regionals, boys qualify for second straight year
The Yoakum cross-country teams competed in the 25-3A meet Monday at Yoakum City Park with both varsity teams qualifying for regionals as a team.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Bulldogs scored 75 points to take third place and return to regionals after a one-year absence..
Gracei Martinez was the top finisher with eighth place in 13 minutes, 8.02 seconds and behind her was Angela Flores in 13:08.66. Ximena Miller was No. 11 in 13:16.01. Sam Adamek finished in 14:09.29 for No. 24, followed by Emmie Leftwich in 14:09.70. Emily Sanchez got No. 33 in 14:47.60 and behind her was Abbie Galvan in 14:54.82.
Varsity Boys
The Bulldogs recorded 51 points to place second to qualify for regionals for the second year in a in a row as the second-place district team.
Top finisher was Aiden Alvarez who earned fourth in 17:55.55. Clayton Hlavac was eighth in 18:41.53; Luis Avalos was No. 10 in 18:47.45.
Trevor Moreno was No. 16 in 19:21.86, followed by Martin Perez in 19:37.63. Ian Pilat was No. 32 in 21:18.89
JV Girls
Yoakum finished second out of two teams with 33 points.
Aubree Hussey was third in 14:55.20, followed by Dulce Lara in 15:00.21. Makayla Olmedo was eighth with 15:23.15; Daphne Oviedo was No. 10 with 16:01.06, followed by Amy Ramirez (16:06.17), Rubi Martinez (16:12.62) and Kayleigh Powell (16:20.69). Erin Fisher was No. 16 in 16:45.26; Mia Quintanilla was No. 18 with 16:54.77, followed by Emma Fling in 17:13.09; Brynlee McCoy was No. 21 in 17:44.73; Maddie Carroll was No. 23 in 17:52.72.
Autumn Gomez was No. 25 in 18:49.69, followed by Jordyn Driskill (18:59.10), Gracyn Wolf (19:19.91), DeAvia Johnson (20:00.79) and Kilynn Poole (20:03.86).
JV Boys
Yoakum was third out of three teams with 65 points. Jesus Rivas was sixth with 21:29.54. Moises Morales was ninth with 21:46.76; Nathan Vo was No. 16 in 25:42.86; Brayden Neubauer was No. 19 in 26:53.35 and following was Daniel Martinez in 29:52.71.
