Yoakum football: Yoakum ends non district with road game against athletic Waco La Vega

The Yoakum Bulldogs close out non district with a trip to the Waco area on Friday.
They will face the Waco La Vega Pirates.
“They are going to be one of the most athletic teams we have faced,” Bulldogs head coach Bo Robinson said. “They have a lot of speed and they are big up front.”
The Pirates have won three of five games so far this season.
They are scoring 38.6 points a contest and opposing teams have put an average of 29.4 points on the board.
The Pirates offense will lean a lot on Bryson Roland who has 462 yards on 54 carries and has scored five touchdowns.
“They run the spread and we will have to a good job of tackling the quarterback and the running backs,” Robinson said.
La Vega runs the 4-3 on defense but do not do a lot of complicated things.
“They are very athletic and strong on the defensive side,” Robinson said. “We need to be able to get first downs, have no turnovers and score when we get opportunities.”
The Bulldogs start district next week by hosting Hitchcock.
