Yoakum High School Lady Bulldog Softball Team splits first two games

The Lady Bulldog Softball Team lost a squeaker to Incarnate Word Academy and defeated Nixon-Smiley last week.

Heading into the bottom of the seventh, Yoakum held a 3-2 lead over Corpus Christi Incarnate Word Academy.

The Lady Angels tied the game and then hit a walkoffhome run to edge the Lady Bulldogs 4-3 Feb. 11 in Corpus Christi.

The Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the top of the fourth to break a scoreless game.

Incarnate Word scored twice in the bottom of the sixth and Yoakum scored a single run in the top of the seventh.

The Lady Bulldogs managed just two hits: Lilly Fojt was 1-for-3 with double, a run, and RBI; Olivia Fojt was 1-for-2 with two runs.

Lilly Fojt pitched for the Lady Bulldogs with 6 2/3 innings, four runs on nine hits, three walks, and six strikeouts.

Teagan Ratley led the defense with eight putouts, and one assist.

Olivia and Lily Fojt accounted for six of the Lady Bulldog 13 hits in the Lady Bulldogs 14-2 win against Nixon-Smiley Friday at home.

Lilly Fojt was 3-for-3, two runs, four RBI and two triples w h i l e O l iv i a Fo j t b a t t e d 3-for-3, three runs, two RBI, and two doubles.

Deveah Rios was 2-for3, two runs, two RBI, and a double.

Ratley went 2-or-3, two runs, RBI, and a double.

Olivia Fojt got the win with five innings pitched, two runs on two hits, two walks, one batter hit, and five strikeouts.

Ratley made all of Yoakum’s 10 putouts in the field.
