Young Shiner golfers compete in tournament, take part in clinic

    Several Shiner youth golfers  participated in a two-day golf clinic in Yoakum and competed in the Yoakum Junior Golf tournament on June 22 at the Yoakum Municipal Golf Course.
    Girls
    In the 8-9 division (four holes), Brooklyn Chilek and Wren Chilek each scored a 28 to tie for first. Addie Mears was third with 29, Mary Sofka shot a 30 for fourth and Ashton Mears booked a 31 for fifth place.
    Alaina Sogka won the 10-12 (six holes) with a score of 40. Raleigh Moore and Reese Chilek each carded a 41 to tie for second and Evangeline Chilek was fourth.
    In the 13-14 (nine holes), Faith Brown was first with a 50 and Morgan Lenehan was second with 56.
    In the 15-18 (nine holes), Lauren Faldyn was first with 48, Megan Winkenwerder was second with 50 and Brianna Sofka shot a 53 for third.
    Boys
    In the 8-9 (four holes), Ezra Rodriguez was first with 30 and Jake Goode cared a 31 for second.
    Brody Chilek won the 10-12 group (six holes) with 24 and Jordan Faldyn got second with 26.
    In the 13-14 (seven holes), Eli Ferguson took top sport with 45, Ryan Jares was second with 46, Ryland Jalfuka had a 50 for third and Carter Chilek scored a 54 for fourth.
    In the `15-18 (nine holes), Trent Brown was first with 42 and Scout Sitka was second with 64.
