Youth softball:Minor SB falls to Hallettsville in title game

LOCKHART — It was a rough going for the Shiner 10U softball team in their East Zone tournament semifinal on June 20 against Hallettsville.
Hallettsville got productive in the third inning with 12 runs on six hits to defeat Shiner 15-0 in three innings.
In the first frame, Hallettsville got its first two batters on via a base hit and error, and got in one run before a one-out, in-the-park home run got them ahead 3-0.
In the pivotal bottom of the third frame, Hallettsville took advantage of an error, six hits including a three-run home run (in the park), two doubles and four walks to bring in a dozen runs and end the game early.

Shiner 10, Lockhart 0
Shiner scored five runs in the fifth inning to double a 5-0 lead to defeat hosts Lockhart 10-0 on Thursday to earn a rematch with Hallettsville in the tournament championship series.
Shiner took a 2-0 lead in the first frame before scoring one run in the second, third and fourth innings.
Avery Colman pitched a no-hit shutout with one batter hit, one walk and 13 strikeouts.
At the plate, Anna Boedeker was 2-for-3 with two runs; Presley Rother hit 2-for-2 with two runs; Colman was 2-for-2 with two runs; Pyper Neskoa was 1-for-2 with one run; Tenley  Wagner hit 1-for-2 with one run; Aubrey Nevlud was 1-for-1 with one run; Andi Mikulencak got one hit and scored one run. Camilla Lozano scored one run.

Hallettsville 14,  Shiner 4
Shiner faced Hallettsville for the championship series, which only went one game as Hallettsville won 14-4.
Hallettsville scored seven runs in each of the first two innings and held Shiner to four runs.
Hallettsville led 7-1 after the first inning and 14-1 after the completion of two frames.  Shiner brought in three runs in the top of the fourth but was unable to extend the game.
Colman worked three innings with 14 runs on 14 hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
Boedeker got Shiner’s only hit and scored two runs. Lozano and Harper Patek added one run each.
