New cannon displayed outside Hallettsville American Legion

The Hallettsville American Legion Post 230 has received a new cannon which is now displayed in front of their building. This has been over ten years in the making to get this cannon. The cannon was delivered just last week.

Moulton welcomes Robert Nieto as new American Legion Commander

A local veteran, Robert Nieto, was named as the new commander of American Legion Post 392 in Moulton. He’s been the new commander for several months now“We’re a small group, we have less than 50 members,” Nieto said. “I’ve been doing a lot of recruiting and trying to get some younger ones in.
The Yoakum Economic Development Corporation (YEDC) Board of Directors presented $3,011 to the Yoakum American Legion Post 395. The matching grant funded the 16’X18’ concrete slab that is the foundation for the recently renovated World War II M1 57 MM AntiTank Gun purchased by the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2456 somewhere between 1951 and 1952. YEDC presents check to Yoakum American Legion Post 395

The cannon was donated to the City of Yoakum in December of 2000. The YEDC has been committed to assisting local organizations in beautification efforts for many years.

Yoakum American Legion (AL) Post #395 Commander Gale Schneider and Yoakum AL Post #395 recently received national recognition for achieving 100% of the membership goal for the 2024 membership year.

A leader with a local veteran service group was urging former military personnel to join him at next week’s planned commissioners court meeting in Hallettsville in a show of support for the planned talks about appointing a local veteran’s service officer.
American Legion Post No. 230 in Hallettsville held their honorary flag retirement ceremony at the local Legion Hall in the city park. They were joined this year by the Boy Scouts of Hallettsville, who assisted local veterans prep all the old flags they’d been brought by those in the community to respectfully dispose of our national symbol with the all the respect she’s rightfully due. God bless America!
