75 attend first Brahma workout

Seventy-five (75) Hallettsville Brahmas reported for the first day of practice Monday evening. The numbers are up from 65 a year ago.“We have a significant jump from last year numbers,” head coach Levi Montgomery said. “This year we will be able to field two subvarsity teams.

Practice for fall sports begins

Football, volleyball, and cross country practice begins Aug. 4 for local high schools next week.Wanda Orsak begins here 35th year as the head coach of Sacred Heart volleyball.Orsak will have to replace Annika Brooks who signed with Blinn College.

Hallettsville was well represented on 25-AAA all-district baseball team.Jorian Wilson was named the overall MVP, Tanner Wagner the Offensive Player of the Year, Hudson Chenard the Pitcher of the Year and Carter Blaha Defensive Player of the Year.

Jerseys eliminate Brahmas

BEEVILLE - "That's Baseball" is the best way to describe the Hallettsville Brahmas' two losses to Falfurrias played at Joe Hunter Field. Brahma pitchers issued 17 walks and hit three batters in the final two games.Hallettsville won the first game in nine innings Thursday night, 1-0.

Battle of the Bovines set

The Hallettsville Brahmas will meet the Falfurrias Jerseys in a best-of three series at Joe Hunter Field in Beeville in the regional semifinals.The first game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday, The second game will start Friday at 7 p.m.If a third game is needed, it will be played Saturday at 3 p.m.

Brahmas keep rolling with sweep of Marion

The Hallettsville Brahmas easily swept Marion 16-1 and 12-0 to win the Class 3A area championship.The Brahmas will meet Falfurrias in the regional semifinals. The last meeting between the teams was in 1991. The Jerseys swept Bishop in a best-of-three series.

Brahmas, Lady Brahmas honored

Hallettsville athletes were honored at the Sports Award Banquet held at the KC Hall Sunday evening.Alaina Halata was named Lady Brahma of the Year and Jorian Wilson and Aiden Drozd Brahmas of the Year.Austin Henrichs and Kenedy Wood were given the Fighting Heart Award.

Brahmas sweep KC; Marion on deck

Pitching has been the Hallettsville Brahmas’ calling card all season.Coach Chad Gohlke got outstanding pitching from three hurlers to sweep Karnes City 2-1 and 11-0.The Brahmas, 25-2, will meet Marion in a bestof-three series starting Thursday with the first game here at 7 p.m.
