Council approves budget, tax rate

Hallettsville city council members approved the 2024-25 city budget and its funding mechanism in a special called meeting Monday evening at city hall.Monday’s meeting followed a public hearing on the budget held Aug. 19, which itself followed council’s approval of the proposed budget numbers on Aug.

City council to approve budget, tax rate Aug. 26

The Hallettsville City Council set Monday, August 26 as the date to adopt the 2025 budget and 2024 tax rate.The proposed tax is 45.81 cents per $100 valuation. The no-new tax rate is 25.37 cents and the voter approval rate is 47.47.

Council approves ammendments

The Hallettsville City Council met in regular session Monday evening.The council approved amendment #2 for engineering services for the Community Development Block Grant.A grant of $1.39 million was accepted for a new water well on the Ridge well site.

Yoakum run-off election results

The results are in for the Yoakum City Council elections. For Yoakum City Council, there were two open spots for Place 2 and Place 4. Winning the spot for Place 2 is Daniel Driskell. He received 208 votes while his opponent, Jay Cassell, received 196 votes.
