The Republican and Democratic Party primaries took place this past Tuesday, March 3, and resulted in challenger Pat J. Steffek unseating incumbent Wayne Faircloth for the Republican Party’s nomination for the Lavaca County Pct. 2 commissioner’s chair.Steffek collected 58.73% of the Pct.

Burn ban remains off

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting Monday morning and after hearing from Lavaca County EMS assistant chief and the county’s Fire Chief Association liaison, Tim Decker agreed to keep the burn ban off.

At the Monday, Jan. 26 Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court meeting the court discussed the need for a full-time grant writer.Speaking for the county’s advisory committee, County Attorney James Reeves asked the court to consider the possibility of hiring a full-time grant writer for the county.

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in regular meeting Monday, Jan. 26 with a lengthy agenda.After hearing from Lavaca County EMS assistant chief and spokesman for the Lavaca County Fire Chiefs Association Tim Decker, Commissioners Court decided to keep the burn ban off for the county.

Court holds final meeting of the year

The Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met in its final meeting for 2025 and besides approving the addition of a mental health deputy and caseworker as well as accepting a donation from the Dickson Allen Foundation, it voted to maintain the current burn ban status of keeping the ban off.

Court approves interlocal agreement

Due to the normal Monday meeting falling on Columbus Day, a federal and county holiday, the Lavaca County Commissioners’ Court met on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at its new starting time of 9 a.m.

Court moves regular meetings to 9 a.m. starting time

The Lavaca Count y Commissioners’ Court met in a regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 23 and approved meeting dates as well as county holidays for 2025-26.The court approved continuing to hold its meetings primarily on the second and four th Mondays of each month.
