St. Paul football: Cardinals battle Schulenburg and Bartlett in final scrimmage

SCHULENBURG — The St. Paul football team got a clear gauge on where they were at following a tri scrimmage against two tough opponents.The Cardinals got two for the price of one as they battled Schulenburg and Bartlett at David Husemann Memorial Stadium on Thursday.

The St. Paul Cardinals football team scrimmaged Frassati Catholic School on Friday at the SCS practice field.The two teams were even with each scoring a touchdown apiece.“We did well. Did not score a lot but we moved the ball,” St. Paul head coach Barry Wolf said.

The St. Paul football team started last year 4-2 but finished 5-6 due to a bizarre rash of injuries late in the season.They hope to not go through a similar predicament this seasonThe Cardinals return 23 lettermen and seven starters on each side of the ball.

St. Paul athletics: Wolf returns to lead SCS athletics program

Shiner Catholic School welcomes back another former coach to head up the athletic department.Former football, basketball and baseball assistant coach Barry Wolf is making his return to SCS as the athletic director and head football coach.
