Shiner senior football player Jordan Harrison was named to the Texas Sports Writers Association Third Team Defensive Back.The Comanches went 5-7 and were area finalists, falling to Thorndale.

Shiner girls basketball: Lady Comanches beat Thorndale, Big Sandy in first two playoff rounds

CEDAR CREEK — The Shiner Lady Comanches greeted a stranger in their bi-district game Feb. 12 against Thorndale at Cedar Creek High School. The Lady Bulldogs ran a man-to-man defense which Shiner is not used to seeing.

Shiner girls basketball: LC crush Louise in last regular-season game

The Lady Comanches officially completed their run-the-table district season with a 65-10 win over Louise Feb. 6. Shiner kept the Lady Hornets off the board in the first half, scoring 20 first-quarter points and 17 in the second box.

Shiner girls basketball: Lenehan scores 19 to lead Shiner to win at Schulenburg

Morgan Lenehan hit a pair of triples and tallied 19 points to lead the Shiner girls to a 51-14 win at Schulenburg on Friday. Shiner led 18-0 after the first quarter and posted 22-2 halftime lead.

Shiner boys basketball: Shiner Comanches dominate Bulldogs 72-38

The Shiner Comanches won the inside battle with Flatonia and that helped Shiner win big 72-38 on Jan. 30. “We rebounded a lot better than our last game against them. Their bigs ate us up in the previous game,” Comanches head coach Jeff Akin said. “Tonight, our bigs won the battle.

The Shiner Lady Comanches captured the district title outright after a fourth-quarter rally against Flatonia, 71-65 Jan. 30. “The only one who could catch us would be Flatonia and we beat them twice now,” Shiner head coach Kristi Peterson said.
